DIY adventures

Not too long ago I rekindled my love affair with craft, specifically jewellery making. I've been into arts and craft since I was around 8. It all started with sewing, then card making, then badge making. In my high school years I did textiles and I got more into sewing accessories, embroidering, quilting and handbag making. Then came the scrap booking trend, I was really into that one. I still have a tonne of supplies left. Towards the end of high school and into University years I was into jewellery making and graphic design. After a while my interest just died down. I kind of lost inspiration.

I'm a bit late on this trend, stacking bracelets, otherwise known as arm party/candy/sway has rekindled my love for making my own bracelets and jewellery. Since I already have plenty of left over materials from my previous phase, I decided to make what I could of my own bracelets so I can have an arm party!
Dusted off the dust of my supply box - from IKEA and painted in red and a tiffany blue colour

I've been having a difficult time sourcing chunky chains. My supply store doesn't really have a good selection of chunky chains and the online Australian store have small chains, something I already have plenty of.

I searched my room for what I could recycle.
Top gold chain was the only chunky chain at the supply store, second one is an old belt chain that I only ever wore once 5 years ago, third chain is from a handbag I bought on impulse (it turned out to be faulty), last chain is a necklace that I found at Sportsgirl.

I really dislike the thread so I undid it. I've been trying to find this type of chunky chain by the metre. Also looking out for large gold flat curb chains.
These are the bracelets I've made so far from my existing supplies. The fourth one is the necklace that I've shortened into a bracelet. Also found the gold cuff at my supply store for half the price a costume jewellery store would sell for. I really need to hone my skills, they look a bit rusty. Also need to stock up on embroidery thread to make my chains colourful...they all look a bit blah.

Any one else into the arm party/candy/sway trend?
Anyone know any Australian suppliers of chunky chains?

Recycling GlossyBoxes

On my previous post I received a GlossyBox. One great thing about them is that you can reuse the box and its packaging to wrap gifts. It saves you money, reduces waste in land fills, looks great and professional.

I replaced the love heart sticker with a "J" because my friends name starts with a J, covered the GlossyBox logo with a birthday sticker and tied the cross grain bow on the outside. Recycling is good for the environment :)

Bad thing is my friend is not that into hot pink but I'm giving this box to her as an inside joke thing =p

Rhinestoned mirror

Sorry for the lack of posts. I will extend my giveaway until mid-december =] Right after I come back from my little holiday with some friends in Melbourne. So ENTER HERE for any new guests ^_~ might throw in a MYSTERY GIFT...considering it's almost christmas

Anyways today I was a bit bored so I blinged an old mirror I had that was kinda yellowing.
I bought the Swarovski flat back crystals in SS16 in clear a few months ago but didn't really have anything I wanted to bling...or really I had a lack of ideas. Anyways I decided to incorporate some old earrings I had into it. One of the earrings was already broken so I broke the other 2. I got them at the beginning of this year at one of the Hong Kong markets.
So here is the result of my first attempt at blinging. I also used a flat faux pearl in the shape of a heart because I just had enough crystals...so lucky. I used an epoxy glue for this. It's the ones you mix together. I mixed a little bit every time I went along because I didn't want the batch of glue to dry up.

I'm loving because Swarovski crystals are so shinny and they don't scratch or lose much lustre.

Have you guys blinged anything old before to revamp it?

Some handmade jewellery

It's been a while....my internet had been acting up and I'm currently studying for my final exams for the semester. Just doing a little post as an intermission =]

Last week my order came for some beads I had ordered. So I made my friend's birthday present and a little card to go with it.
Pendant I made for friend using Swarovski crystal and sterling silver holder and chain.

Made this for myself. Swarovski pearl beads with sterling silver toggle.

Will be available for more posts when exams are over. So stressful. Don't think I'm remembering anything :s
